Inport from Notion

You can transfer your notes from Notion to the SingularityApp notebook. To do this, first export your data from Notion, then import the resulting archive into SingularityApp.

This feature is available in the desktop versions of the app (Windows, macOS, Linux). The transfer process has several limitations since Notion does not include all data types in its export file.

Step 1. Export Data from Notion

  1. In your Notion account, go to Settings & Members in the left sidebar menu.
  2. In the window that opens, select Settings and find the Export content section.
  3. Click Export all workspace content.
  4. In the export settings window, set the following parameters:
    • Export format: HTML
    • Include databases: Current view
    • Include content: Everything
    • Create folders for subpages: Yes (toggle on)
    • Export comments: No (toggle off)
  5. Wait for the export to finish. Once complete, the file will download to your computer, and a link to it will also be sent to your email.

Step 2. Import the Archive into SingularityApp

  1. In the top menu of SingularityApp, select FileImportImport from Notion.
  2. In the window that opens, select the ZIP archive you just downloaded from Notion.
  3. Wait for the process to complete. Your Notion notes will appear as notes in the SingularityApp notebook.

What You Need to Know: Import Limitations from Notion

Due to fundamental differences between the apps, many elements from Notion are transferred with changes or not transferred at all.

What is NOT imported

  • Comments.
  • Attached files (attachments).
  • Notes located in the Notion trash.

What is imported as plain text

  • Table of contents.
  • Code blocks and mathematical formulas.
  • Text highlighting (color or background).
  • Date and user mentions (@mentions).
  • Toggles (collapsible lists).
  • Columns.
  • Advanced Notion blocks such as buttons, breadcrumbs, etc.
  • In the «Callout» block, the emoji will appear above the text rather than to its left.

What is imported with changes

  • Databases (Database, Kanban, etc.): will be imported as a task with subtasks. The parent task will display the table, while the subtasks will contain the content of the database cells.
  • Embedded links with previews (Web bookmarks): will be imported as regular text links.
  • Imported notes will be sorted alphabetically.
  • Images and page covers will be imported as separate images within the notes.
