To ensure stable performance and data safety, make sure your device has enough free disk space (at least 4 GB for the desktop and web versions, and at least 2 GB for the mobile app). All other hardware specifications are up to the user. They may affect the app’s performance speed but won’t prevent installation or startup.
Minimum system requirements for operating systems (the listed versions and newer are supported):
- Windows 10 64-bit for the desktop version.
- Windows 7 for the web version.
- macOS Sierra for the desktop and web versions.
- iOS 13 and Android 10 for the mobile app.
- Android versions earlier than 10 (6–10) are partially supported.
- You can install the app on Android versions below 10, but some features may be limited if your device manufacturer doesn’t provide essential system updates — for example, if root SSL certificates are not updated. In such cases, certain data in the app may fail to load due to outdated root SSL certificates in the device’s OS.
Note: minimum system requirements may change with new app releases. Such changes are extremely rare and occur only when platforms used for development discontinue support for outdated operating systems.
For example, the Singularity desktop app is built on Electron — one of the leading frameworks used by apps like Notion, WhatsApp, Figma, and many others. Electron is based on the Chromium engine, which ended support for Windows 7 and 8 in 2023 (as did Microsoft itself). This means that newer versions of Singularity will also be incompatible with outdated, unsupported Windows releases.
We understand that some users prefer to stay on their favorite, familiar OS versions for as long as possible. But progress is relentless — the singularity is getting closer — and adopting the new sometimes means letting go of the old.
Even though Windows 7 and 8 are no longer supported, you can still use the web version on them. ʕ•́ᴥ•̀ʔっ
