Import from Things

If you’re switching to SingularityApp from the Things planner, you can easily transfer all your tasks and projects. This feature is available only in the macOS version of SingularityApp, since Things runs exclusively on this operating system.

Preparing for Import

Before you begin, please make sure that:

  • You’re performing the import on the same Mac where the Things app is installed.
  • The Things app contains up-to-date data that you want to transfer.
  • The Things app is completely closed before starting the import process.

How to Run an Import

The process consists of a few simple steps:

  1. In the top system menu of SingularityApp, select FileImportImport from Things.

  2. Select your version of Things. SingularityApp will ask you to specify which version of Things you’re importing from. This is important because the database structures differ. Choose one of the following options:

    • 3.12.5 and below
    • 3.12.6 and above
  3. Specify the database path. A Finder window will open where you need to locate the Things database file. It’s usually found at:

    ~/Library/Group Containers/JLMPQHK86H.com.culturedcode.ThingsMac

  4. In this folder, select the file named Things Database and click Open.
  5. Wait for completion. The app will start importing your data.

What You Should Know

Importing a large database may take some time. Please be patient and do not close the app until the process is complete.
