Evening start time

Morning and evening tasks are planned differently — a daytime meeting and a list of after-work errands don’t sit well in the same list. To separate them, the mobile app has an Evening start time setting. Tasks scheduled after the chosen time automatically go into a separate This Evening section inside the Today view. The same setting also affects how the app recognizes the word “evening” in task names.

The setting is available only in the mobile app (iOS and Android). On desktop, the This Evening section exists too, but the threshold time there is hardcoded at 6:00 PM and can’t be changed — changing the setting in the mobile app won’t affect the desktop’s behavior.

How to set the evening start time

Open Settings → General → Evening start time and pick a time. The default is 6:00 PM, but you can choose any time from 12:00 PM onwards.

Where evening tasks go

Once you’ve picked a time, a separate This Evening section appears in the Today view. All today’s tasks with a start time later than your chosen threshold automatically end up there. Evening tasks stay visually separate from morning and daytime ones, so they’re easier to keep track of.

If you choose the This Evening date when creating or editing a task, the task is scheduled for the time you set.

Effect on date recognition

If recognition of dates from task titles is enabled, the word “evening” in a task name is converted to the time you set here. For example, with the setting at 7:00 PM, the task “Call mom this evening” is created for today at 7:00 PM.
