Project Template

If you regularly create projects with a similar structure and set of tasks, you can prepare a template in advance. In SingularityApp, you can do this by saving a project as a CSV file or by using sections with prebuilt tasks.

Save a Project as a CSV Template

You can save any project as a template in a CSV file and then import it whenever you need a new project with the same structure.

This feature is available in the desktop version of the app and lets you save any project so you can reuse it again and again. It’s ideal for recurring workflows, such as a strategic planning session, a back-to-school preparation list, or a vacation packing checklist.

How to Create and Export a Template

  1. Open the project you want to turn into a template.
  2. Click the project menu (three-dot icon) or right-click the project name and select „Export Template to CSV“.
  3. In the window that appears, enter a name for your template and choose a folder to save it in.
  4. Click „Save“.

What’s Saved in the Template?

The template file saves the entire project structure: the task hierarchy, titles, notes, priorities, statuses, and checklists. Pay special attention to how dates are stored: dates are saved in a relative format.

  • Tasks with non-overdue dates keep their relative position. For example, a task with the date „Tomorrow“ will still have the date „Tomorrow“ relative to the day of import.
  • Tasks with overdue dates are saved in the template without dates. This prevents outdated deadlines from being carried over into the new project.

How to import and use a template

Importing project templates is available only in the desktop versions of the app (Windows, macOS, and Linux). This feature isn’t available in the mobile apps or web version. To import a project template, open SingularityApp on your computer:

  1. In the top system menu of SingularityApp, select FileImportImport from CSV.
  2. In the window that opens, find and select your previously saved CSV template file.
  3. Done! SingularityApp will add the project from the template to the end of your project list, and all dates inside it will be set relative to the current day.

How to Use Sections as Project Templates

If you often create projects with a similar set of tasks, keep reusable templates in a separate project. For example, create a project called «Templates». Create a separate section for each template and add the tasks you need to it.

When you need a new project:

  1. Copy the section you need using keyboard shortcuts or the context menu.
  2. Paste the copy into any existing project.
  3. Open the context menu for the copied section and select «Convert to Project».

The section will become a separate project with all the tasks inside it. The original section will remain in the «Templates» project, so you can reuse it again.

For more details on copying sections, see «Copy-Paste».

How to Hide Templates from the Project Tree

If you rarely use the «Templates» project and don’t want it to stay visible in the project tree, move it to the Archive. All sections and tasks inside it will be preserved.

When you need the templates again, restore the project from the Archive.
