Task Password (Encryption)

If a task contains personal or confidential information, you can protect it with a password. After that, its contents (note and checklist) will be hidden even if someone gains access to your device.

Create a password

  1. Open the password setup window in one of the following ways:

    • Method 1. Open the task’s context menu and select «Set Password.»
    • Method 2. Select the task and press Shift + Cmd ⌘ + X (on macOS) or Shift + Ctrl + X (on Windows).
  2. In the window that appears, enter your password and click OK.

  3. Once set, a lock icon will appear next to the task.

  1. Open the task editing window.

  2. Tap in the upper-right corner and select «Set New Password.»

  3. Enter your password and tap the checkmark in the upper-right corner. A lock icon will then appear next to the task.

One Password for All Tasks or a Separate One for Each

When you set a password for the first time, the app remembers it and offers to use it as the default — for all future tasks you want to encrypt. You can keep using the same password for all tasks or set a separate one for each task.

If you enter a password different from the one used before, the app will ask whether you want to use the new password for this task and all future ones, or if it was simply a mistake while entering the old one.

Important:

Tasks that were already encrypted keep the passwords that were set when they were encrypted — even if you later choose a different password for other tasks.

The app does not store passwords in plain text or display the current password — make sure to save it somewhere safe.

How to Open an Encrypted Task

  1. Open the task for editing.

  2. In the field with the five-star icon, enter the password.

  3. Press Enter to confirm.

If the password is correct, the task content will be displayed.

  1. Method 1. Open the editing window of the encrypted task.

Enter the password in the field with four stars and tap the double checkmark icon.

  2. Method 2. In the menu, select Decrypt, then enter the password and tap the double checkmark icon.

Remove а Password

  1. Select the task.
  2. Press ⌘ Cmd + Enter + Y (on macOS) or Ctrl + Enter + Y (on Windows), or open the context menu and choose «Remove Password.»
  3. Enter the current password and confirm.
